Russian Security forces thwarted a terror attack on a Moscow Shul, FSB told Russian media in a statement, that law enforcement that came to arrest the suspect shot and killed him during a standoff after he resisted arrest.

The agency added that the suspect, who was not named, had a criminal record at home and became radicalized while serving a prison sentence.

A ready-made IED was found and confiscated.

The Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar, thanked the Russian FSB for preventing an attack on one of the Shuls in Moscow. 

The Jewish community in Moscow said in a statement, “After the suspect inspected the synagogue, he purchased materials for making explosives. While trying to resist arrest, he was eliminated by the security services. During the search of his residence, explosive devices were discovered.”

In March, a terror attack on a concert hall in Moscow, orchestrated by ISIS-K, killed over 140 Russians and set fire to the building. Since the attack, Russian police have been on high alert.
