UPDATE 139 people were killed and many injured after armed attackers stormed the popular concert venue complex near Moscow and opened fire, on Friday night, according to preliminary information from the Federal Security Service in Russia, state media reported

Update: ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. At least 139 have been killed in the attack, according to Russia’s Investigative Committee.

Russia said that all four gunmen suspected of carrying out the terror attack have been detained, and are being questioned by investigators in Moscow.

In a statement, White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, issued a statement on the attack, “The United States strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack in Moscow. We extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones and to those who were injured or affected by these unconscionable attacks against innocent civilians. ISIS is a common terrorist enemy that must be defeated everywhere.”

According to reports, at least three people in camouflage clothing had opened fire at the Crocus City Hall. It also reported three attackers “threw a grenade or an incendiary bomb, which started a fire” in the concert hall.

Video footage published on Russian social media showed chaotic scenes, with a large crowd of concertgoers attempting to flee the hall, followed by gunshots.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Telegram, “The Russian Foreign Ministry is receiving phone calls with condolences from ordinary citizens from all around the globe following the horrible tragedy at the Krokus City Hall venue in Moscow. They are expressing the strongest condemnation of this bloody terrorist attack, transpiring right before the eyes of the entire world.”

It is unknown who is responsible for the attack at the moment.
