Rav Efrem Goldberg, Senior Rabbi of the Boca Raton Synagogue in Florida, made waves with his solitary visit to Eretz Yisroel following the horrific attacks on Simchas Torah. His inspirational visit gave Chizzuk to those who have lost too much in the attacks.

Rav Goldberg has done it again, along with dedicated community members of the Boca Raton kehillah, he led a delegation to Eretz Yisroel, visiting the IDF soldiers on the battlefields and on army basses as well as the Jewish communities on the border Kibbutzim, including Nachal Oz, where many civilians and soldiers were kidnapped from.

Rav Goldberg tells the story of Mickey on Simchas Torah. With his daughter and wife in the safe room, Mickey bravely and heroically fought off terrorists from every direction for over 6 hours, personally eliminating 23 himself.

He also met with Benny, a heroic bus driver who picked up dozens of soldiers from the bus stop in Yerushalayim “dressed with Talliesim” on Simchas Torah. He related that the IDF commander on the bus told him that he should zigzag around, dropping the soldiers off near the entrance to Kibbutz Be’eri to defend the Yidden there, not knowing if some of those soldiers ever made it out.

The delegation visited the Nahariya Galliele Medical Center in Northern Eretz Yisroel which sits just 6 miles from the Lebanese border, to gain first-hand insight into our strategic importance as Israel’s frontline of care in the north.

Rabbi Goldberg wrote on Social Media, “What Galilee Medical Center in Naharia has done to be prepared for a large attack in the north is mind-boggling. From creating an underground hospital with command center, ensuring sufficient beds will be available at all times and more, no civilian hospital should ever have to take these steps.”

The group also visited a newly built bomb shelter in a Kibbutz near the southern border, generously donated by loyal listeners of the Behind the Bima podcast and the kehillah of the Boca Raton Synagogue.
