Lakewood, NJ – On Sunday evening, May 25, 2025, a young frum Jewish girl fought off a masked man who tried to abduct her at a park in Lakewood.
The suspect, dressed in all black and wearing a ski mask, grabbed the girl and attempted to drag and snatch her into the woods. The girl fought back and screamed for help—alerting others, and her resistance forced the attacker to release her and flee.
Multiple witnesses called Lakewood Police and Shomrim, which both responded immediately, but the kidnapping suspect had already fled the scene on foot.
B’Chasdei Hashem, the girl was not injured, although shaken from the attempted kidnapping.
At this time, a massive manhunt for the attempted kidnapping suspect is currently taking place, including viewing nearby video cameras for surveillance footage.

I’m curious what time evening means? Was it 7pm or 10pm? A person should be safe no matter what time they go go but I wouldn’t advise a girl to go at 10pm, especially by herself.

She was also with friends and adults were in the park as well at the time. It’s crazy how the guy still managed to grab and drag her towards the trees, but he got scared and ran away very fast.
