Boro Park, Brooklyn – The NYPD, with crucial support from Shomrim, recently arrested a suspect involved in fraudulent activities targeting local banks in the neighborhood. The operation was set in motion thanks to the alertness of Shomrim volunteer and Chavivim coordinator Sruly P, who was on duty driving a bus at the time.
While driving near 13th Avenue and 46th Street in Boro Park, the Shomrim member noticed a few males acting suspiciously outside a bank. One suspect appeared to be carrying multiple cards in his bulging pockets. Sensing something was off, the driver immediately radioed for Shomrim backup.
Responding volunteers gathered details, including a photo of the suspect vehicle plates. Initial observations indicated that the suspects were traveling from bank to bank in Borough Park, using fake IDs, forged documents, and counterfeit cards to commit fraud.
The NYPD, alerted to the situation, stopped the suspects car for a traffic infraction and discovered the driver had a suspended license. A search of the vehicle uncovered multiple forged documents, leading to the car’s seizure and the suspect arrest.
Thanks to the vigilance of the Shomrim volunteer and smooth coordination with the NYPD, the suspect is now in custody, facing charges related to bank fraud and possession of forged documents.
