A Monsey Trail bus was involved in a major accident in Hewitt, NJ, this afternoon while en route to a trip.

Three buses from Sharei Torah School in Flatbush were on their way to a boating trip in Greenwood Lake, New York, when a large tree fell on one of the buses, shattering windows and causing significant damage, particularly in the area where the students were seated.

Initially, rumors spread quickly, causing alarm and concern. B’nisei nissim, as more information became available, it was confirmed that while the accident resulted in many injuries, the situation was not as dire as initially feared.

Hatzalah dispatched a mass-response with volunteers from nearby Rockland, New Square and Kriyas Yoel. Volunteers all rushed to the scene to provide essential medical care to the girls and assist local emergency and EMS personnel. Two medical helicopters landed nearby to airlift the two critically injured victims.
