According to local NJ/NY sources, as the weather gets warmer, a number of Jewish summer day-camps, preschools and kindergartens in the tri-state area are increasing efforts to prevent children being mistakenly left in vehicles. With a change in routine and schedule—especially with the weather getting warmer—it is important to safeguard and implement reminders not to accidentally forget a child in the car.
A good deterrent is for the Morah to call the parents after a pre-set time if the baby does not arrive after the school day begins. It should be mandatory to take attendance each morning and call both parents if the baby or child is not there—by a certain time.

In Florida every school child has a bus pass that has to be scanned
Upon bording the bus in the am & scanning again in pm when going home. I think it’s a gr-8! Idea that should be implemented in all
schools .
May such a story never happen again . -

It is sad that it becomes the responsibility of the morah! Will she now be liable if a parent leaves a child and she doesn’t call soon enough!

Never leave a child in the car even for one minute

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that all adults leave SOMETHING near the car seat that they would not leave their car without. A purse, a sefer, a cellphone, a briefcase, key fob, SOMETHING so they will see the child before leaving the vehicle. Offered as a comment from a retired pediatric nurse.

When driving put one of your shoes with the child . You won’t go out with one of your shoes missing . Also when driving don’t use your phone . Most of these tragedies occur when you’re distracted by a phone call
