Breaking Update: Cleared for publication. FrumNews has been informed from a high-ranking police source, that the ramming suspect was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. This is an open miracle and Nissim that nobody from our community was injured in this attempted terrorist attack.

Brooklyn, NY – On Friday night, Yom Kippur, a potential ramming attack was narrowly avoided on the streets of Borough Park. The incident began when Muhammad Hashim, 31, dressed in Middle-Eastern garb, terrorized the Hasidic neighborhood, violently shouting anti-Jewish slurs and intentionally attempting to run down a Jewish man while accelerating at a high-rate of speed with his vehicle on New Utrecht Avenue and 50th Street in Boro Park.

B’Chasdei Hashem, no one was injured, thanks to the swift and professional response of the Shmira Shabbos Patrol units. After canvassing the area, they tracked the suspect as he recklessly fled, speeding and running red lights. To ensure the safety of pedestrians, Shmira Patrol units took Photos of the vehicle and plates and stopped following. However, when Hashim returned to the neighborhood, the Shmira units were notified, resumed following him from a safe distance, and immediately alerted the NYPD, who responded. Hashim was apprehended and arrested shortly after.

He now faces charges of aggravated harassment, reckless endangerment, and a hate crime.

While tensions in the community have been heightened by this terrifying incident, the quick response from the Shmira Patrol helped prevent what could have been a serious tragedy.

FrumNews.com has been informed that the NYPD leadership and authorities are taking this incident very seriously, additional charges may be added when the investigation concludes.
