Israeli Embassy Inaugurated in Estonia with Mezuzah Ceremony

In a symbolic and heartfelt ceremony, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar inaugurated the new Israeli Embassy in Tallinn, Estonia, alongside his Estonian counterpart, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna. The event marked a deepening of ties between the two countries and included the affixing of a mezuzah at the embassy’s main entrance.

The mezuzah was placed by Minister Sa’ar together with Rabbi Shmuel Kot, Chief Rabbi of Estonia and Chabad Shaliach to the country. Reflecting on the moment, Rabbi Kot described the inauguration as profoundly personal and historically meaningful: “As a Jew, as a rabbi, and as someone born in the Land of Israel — this is a moving day of my life. The opening of the Israeli Embassy in Estonia is not just a formal event, but a moment of heart and soul — a living connection between the State of Israel and Jewish life here in Estonia.”

The new embassy stands on the very street where Tallinn’s former synagogue and Jewish community center once stood—both destroyed in the past. “The building was destroyed, but the Jewish spirit was not,” Rabbi Kot emphasized. “It is eternal, and it shines again in this place.”
