The U.S. House of Representatives passed Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s (D-FL) amendment, which would force the U.S. State Department to stop citing data and statistics from the so-called Gaza Health Ministry, which is controlled by Hamas terrorists.
The amendment was introduced by Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) and co-sponsored by Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Mike Lawler (R-NY), Joe Wilson (R-SC), and Carol Miller (R-WV). It passed 269-144, with 62 Democrats joining 207 Republicans to ensure its passage, despite being opposed by House Democratic leadership.
This amendment aims to stop the State Department from using this false data from the “ministry,” which has been publishing deceitful casualty figures since Hamas brutally slaughtered over 1200 Israelis on Simchas Torah and took hundreds hostage.
The flawed data doesn’t include who among the killed are Hamas terrorists, as any Democratic government would show. U.S. President Joe Biden and administration officials have repeatedly cited this flawed data, and it has been cited in Congressional hearings.
For context, imagine for a second if, during WWII, the U.S. government cited data from the Nazis ym”s on how many Americans or Jews were killed! As Rep. Moscowitz said, “The idea that the United States Government would rely on a terrorist organization for statistics, for data that is being utilized, there are better ways to do this.”
“My amendment does not deny the tragedy that is going on in Gaza due to Hamas’s horrific attack on Israel on October 7,” Rep. Moscowitz said on the House floor. “But at the end of the day, the Gaza Ministry of Health is the Hamas Ministry of Health.”
He goes on to say even the U.N. (which relied on Hamas terrorists) isn’t sure of the data set; they “lowered their numbers just a couple weeks ago by a significant amount, thousands, in fact. I believe that the United States should stop relying on a terrorist organization for information.”
“Remember, it is Hamas’ goal to sell propaganda to the American people, to sell propaganda to the world, and the idea that we would participate in it because there are no other credible sources—Hamas is not a credible source. Since when is Hamas credible?”
What Moscowitz is saying is that Hamas — which is a U.S. designated terror organization — is a terror organization and not a government. The idea that such a terror organization would have an ounce of credibility when there objectively is no “Department of Health” is foolish.
Following the passage of Moskowitz’s amendment into the Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Act of 2025. The Appropriations bill would need to pass both the House and Senate and be signed by President Biden before it becomes law.
