Frum Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge Celebrated at Induction Ceremony

Frum Justice Saul (Shaul) Stein was inducted as a justice of the New York Supreme Court in Kings County (Brooklyn) on Monday, April 1, at an event in Yeshiva University’s Benjamin Cardozo School of Law’s Moot Court Room.

A native of Montreal, Quebec. Justice Stein graduated from Yeshiva Gedolah of Providence, Rhode Island, and earned a BS in Finance from Providence College. He then attended Yeshiva University’s Cardozo Law School, graduating in 2005. He later earned an MST from Baruch College in 2010.

After graduating, he joined the Clifford Chance law firm and clerked for Supreme Court Justice David Cohen. In 2020, he ran in his own judicial election and won. Since then, he has been assigned to both Criminal and civil courts, presiding over a variety of cases and jury trials.

Justice Stein won his election in 2020 as district judge for the 5th Municipal Court District of the Kings County Civil Court. In 2023, he was nominated by Brooklyn Democrats for the Kings County Supreme Court, he won the election on November 7th, alongside frum Justice Rachel (Ruchie) Freier.

During the event, Justice Stein took the oath of office and was joined by his family, friends, local community leaders, including Frum Councilmember Kalman Yeger, Jacob Eisdorfer of the Brooklyn Borough President’s office, David Greenfield CEO of the Met Council, Avi Greenstein of the Boro Park JCC, Rabbi Yaacov Behrman of the Jewish Future Alliance, Rabbi Moshe David Niederman of the United Jewish Williamsburg, Rabbi Yeruchim Silber and members of Agudah, Yaakov Kaplan Vice-Chair Community Board 12, Nosson Abrams, among others.
