After the massacre on Simchas Torah, better known as October 7th, Jessy Vogel, Michael Cedar, Isaac Stern, Izzy Sicherman and Micha Lader of the Five Towns and Far Rockaway flew out to Eretz Yisroel to team up with the ZAKA Search and Rescue organization.
The group is part of the Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol (Shomrim), which specializes in local search and rescue operations.
When Hamas attacked, the group knew they needed to step up with their unique specialties.
Shortly thereafter, they found themselves on the ground in southern Israel, helping the broken communities in any way they could.
Part of their jobs was assisting Zaka and IDF in Eretz Yisroel with identifying remains and otherwise ensuring the proper and dignified burial of those murdered, Hy”d by Hamas on Simchas Torah.
Recently, the group was honored by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman for the work they did in Eretz Yisroel.
The event was arranged by community activist Sheya Landa, who serves as senior advisor to Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.
“It was an honor for me to arrange for these heroic members to be given out a citation for their amazing work!” Sheya said on Twitter/X.
