Far Rockaway Shomrim Offer $7,500 for Safe Return of Stolen Sefer Torah

Far Rockaway, NY — Rockaway-Nassau Shomrim is offering a $7,500 reward after a safe containing a Sefer Torah was stolen from the Talmud Torah Siach Yitzchak, a local Yeshivah at Beach 9th St and Dinsmore Ave in Far Rockaway.
The Sefer Torah was stolen this past Tuesday, in the early hours of the morning at approximately 2:30 AM, when a pair of thieves broke into the Yeshivah before making off with the safe.
Shortly thereafter, Shomrim released a video of the theft and this morning offered a $7,500 reward for the safe return of the Sefer Torah.
Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato, who represents the Far Rockaway Frum Kehilla, thanked Rockaway-Nassau Shomrim on social media for the superb response to the burglary, “A heinous crime has occurred against our community. Thank you to the NYPD 101st Precinct, Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol, and the Major Crimes Unit for your urgency in working to relocate and return the Sefer Torah to us.”
Shomrim and the NYPD are searching for a vehicle with NY license plate DMS-6624 in connection with the theft.
