BORO PARK: Shmira, NYPD Apprehend Serial Burglar Terrorizing Community

Boro Park Shmira volunteers tracked down a serial burglar who committed multiple burglaries in the Boro Park neighborhood

Borough Park, Brooklyn – Shmira volunteers tracked down today a violent serial burglar who committed multiple burglaries in the Boro Park neighborhood.

With photos of the suspect and surveillance video footage in hand, along with a list of locations that the suspect frequently visits, all Shmira members were on high alert until he was finally apprehended this afternoon.

The Shmira surveillance team put in a tremendous amount of hours collecting evidence and trailing him down, working side by side with the NYPD until he was taken into custody moments ago, on Thursday.

This burglar has a long criminal record and has been previously arrested numerous times in the past, in 2019 after committing dozens of robberies and terrorizing the community in a high profile case. Boro Park Shmira busted him red handed.

In 2024, followeing a burglary spree, the suspect was spotted by a sharp-eyed Boro Park Shmira volunteer. He was then followed by additional volunteers and a Shmira drone, where he was stopped by the NYPD, who transported him back to the 66th Precinct, where he was arrested by the detective squad.

Following the 2024 serial burglars arrest, Commanding Officer of the 66th precinct Captain Kenneth Herrarte thanked the members of Boro Park Shmira “Grateful for the tremendous support from our community partners in catching a wanted burglar. Together, we’re making our community safer and stronger.”

    Great job Police & Shmira. Hopefully this criminal will stay in jail.

    No more catch & release, he had enough chances. We need to take back our neighborhood & tell the criminals they will not get away with it in BP.
