Boro Park Shmira volunteers tracked down a serial burglar who committed multiple burglaries in the Boro Park neighborhood.
The latest which he burglarized two stores on 13th Avenue this past Shabbos, stealing thousands of dollars in cash and construction tools.
With photos of the suspect and surveillance video footage in hand, all Shmira members were on high alert until he was finally apprehended.
The Shmira surveillance team put in a tremendous amount of hours collecting evidence and trailing him down, working side by side with the NYPD’s 66th Precinct.
Yesterday afternoon, he was spotted by a sharp-eyed Shmira volunteer on Ft. Hamilton Parkway. He was followed by additional volunteers and a Shmira drone until 5th Avenue and 48th Street, where he was stopped by the NYPD, who transported him back to the 66th Precinct, where he was arrested by the detective squad.
This burglar has a long criminal record and has been previously arrested numerous times in the past, in 2019 after committing dozens of robberies and terrorizing the community in a high profile case. Boro Park Shmira busted him red handed.
Following the serial burglars arrest this week, Commanding Officer of the 66th precinct Captain Kenneth Herrarte thanked the members of Boro Park Shmira “Grateful for the tremendous support from our community partners in catching a wanted burglar. Together, we’re making our community safer and stronger.”

Great job Police & Shmira. Hopefully this criminal will stay in jail.
No more catch & release, he had enough chances. We need to take back our neighborhood & tell the criminals they will not get away with it in BP.
