Frum Yid Wins Election As Mayor of Miami Beach

Mazal Tov! In a runoff election that took place Tuesday, in an surprising victory, Miami Beach voters voted in a Frum Mayor, Attorney Steven Meiner, according to early election data, and is now projected to be the future Mayor of Miami Beach, FL.

Steven Meiner, a Frum Yid, previously held the position of Miami Beach’s Group 4 commissioner, a slot he gave up in order to run for mayor. He ran as an independent, and was endorsed by Dan Gelber, the incumbent who wasn’t able to run as he was term limited.

He on a law and order platform, saying of his plans for the city. “Reducing crime, a safer city, mitigating traffic, responsible development, not overdevelopment, resiliency issues that we need to address.”

“I just kept talking about it and talking about it, and I really believe we have great residents, we have great voters, and I believe that would resonate and the proof is in the pudding, We are standing here right now celebrating.” he added

Miami Beach, as well as most of the state, has a significant Jewish population, an estimated 15,000 Yidden live in the city. Steven is the second Frum mayor elected in the state since 2022, when Shlomo Danzinger was elected as mayor of Surfside.

Meiner’s opponent, Michael Gongora, trailed behind Meiner’s lead with Meiner gaining 54% of the vote with 20 of 21 precincts reporting at 7:30pm. Meiner will take office as Dan Gelber.

Born in Flatbush, Steven has dedicated most of his 23 year professional career as an attorney to public service fighting against fraud. When he moved to Miami Beach in 2007, Steven has served as a civil law enforcement attorney with the SEC. Prior to the SEC, Steven practiced law in New York City handling complex financial litigation cases for prestigious international law firms Dewey Ballantine and Mayer Brown.
