Brooklyn, NY – New York State Senator Simcha Felder has won the [special] election for NYC 44th City Council district which includes most of Boro Park and parts of Midwood and Flatbush.

Felder ran against community activist Heshy Tischler, known to many as Uncle Heshy from the Just Enough Heshy Show.

Felder, a conservative Democrat, ran under the “Simcha” party line and received roughly 80% of the vote, while Tischler, a Republican, ran under the “Team Trump” party line and received about 18% of the votes. The other 2% were write-ins.

Felder will be replacing Kalman Yeger, who previously held this city council seat, and was elected to NY State Assembly, representing Flatbush and Midwood.

During the campaign trail, Tischler vowed if elected, to tackle many dire issues threatening the very existence of the Boro Park and Flatbush Jewish communities, including to shut-down two new proposed homeless shelters in Boro Park, that will bring an unprecedented crime-wave to the Borough Park neighborhood.

Likewise, Felder is also against the proposed Boro Park homeless shelters, and he has recently sent a letter to NYC Mayor Eric Adams, urging city hall to find an alternate location in another neighborhood, for the homeless shelters.

Felder’s term as a council member will only be until the end of the year, he will have to run again for re-election in order to hold a full 4-year term as a council member.

FrumNews.com wishes Senator and Councilman-elect Simcha Felder a big Mazal Tov and much Hatzlacha.
