Emergency Community Rally to Protest Boro Park Homeless Shelter

An emergency rally to protest against NYC opening two new homeless shelters in the Boro Park Jewish community

Borough Park, Brooklyn – An emergency community rally to protest against NYC opening two new homeless shelters, will take place Thursday Tannis Esther, 1PM at 50th Street and 10th Avenue in Boro Park.

Local residents, activists and elected officials are deeply concerned about crime and safety ramifications that opening these new homeless shelters may bring to the neighborhood.

The two proposed city shelter’s, would be located at the apartment buildings at 5001 10th Avenue and 1016 50th Street in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.

Boro Park Community leaders suggested to city officials, that these two proposed homeless shelters can be relocated to other areas of NYC. Mayor Eric Adams announced recently that he ordered the NYC Department Of Homeless Services to close 53 migrant shelters, local activists suggested that two of those migrant shelters scheduled for closure, should instead stay open—thus eliminating the need to open these two new homeless shelters in the Center of the Boro Park Jewish community.

  • ”There is no reason why New York City is opening two new homeless shelters in the Jewish community of Boro Park, while at the same time closing dozens of shelters in other areas of the city. The Kehila is rightfully concerned: Will the new homeless shelter residents have criminal records? Will they be U.S. citizens or illegal migrants? Will there be an uptick in crime?” Will we be able to let our children out of the house without them getting attacked?”

A concerned lifelong Boro Park resident that lives near the proposed homeless shelter stated.

FrumNews.com encourages the entire community to show up to the rally en-mass. Every resident who cares about Boro Park’s safety and the future of the Jewish community should attend.
