The Israel Defence Forces struck hundreds of Hamas terror targets in Gaza City, dubbed as the final battle of the nearly two-year war in Gaza.

The Israeli War Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has promised for months that it would enter the Hamas-controlled city, but kept delaying a full-scale offensive.

This week, the Israeli war cabinet unanimously voted that the IDF should enter Gaza City.

“The War Cabinet unanimously decided that Israel should continue the operation in Gaza City to exert military pressure on Hamas in order to promote the release of our hostages and the other goals of the war,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.

At the same time, the IDF said it is “conducting targeted strikes against Hamas terror targets in Gaza City.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump had a phone call ahead of the Gaza City operation.
