Heartwarming: Ukrainian Jews Gather To Pray in Support of Eretz Yisroel
In a poignant display of solidarity, Jewish communities across Ukraine have come together in recent days to hold prayer gatherings and express their unwavering support for Israel. Thousands of Jewish citizens of Ukraine have taken part in these assemblies, uniting in prayer for the safety and well-being of the people of Israel.
These prayer gatherings were organized in response to the heinous acts of terrorism that have recently occurred in the southern region of Israel. Led by community rabbis and Chabad emissaries, participants in these prayer assemblies recited chapters of Psalms, listened to Torah teachings, and found solace in the words of faith and security from the Lubavitcher Rebbe. They also made positive resolutions for the speedy recovery of the wounded and in memory of those who tragically lost their lives.
In some cities across Ukraine, support rallies were held in the streets, where community members delivered powerful speeches, emphasizing the profound solidarity between Ukraine’s Jewish community and the residents of the Holy Land.
Jewish communities in Ukraine also lit memorial candles in central locations to honor the sanctified memory of the fallen and displayed the symbol of Jewish identity, the Star of David, as a testament to their unwavering support.
Within Ukraine’s ‘Or Avner’ Jewish educational network, active throughout the country, students organized their prayer ceremonies. Through their heartfelt artwork, they expressed their support for Israel and offered prayers and hope for an end to the violence. Some of the children also penned their positive resolutions to stand in solidarity with the people of Israel and to remember the victims.
The winter season in Ukraine presents significant challenges to Jewish communities, with recurrent power outages due to harsh weather conditions. The Jewish Relief Network of Ukraine (JRNU), which operates and supports dozens of communities throughout the year, proactively delivered additional generators to the communities. They also offered comprehensive assistance through various aid channels to help Ukraine’s Jewish citizens navigate what is expected to be a challenging winter season with stability and peace.
