Manhattan, NY – Last week, on Thanksgiving day at Kehilat Shearith Israel Synagogue (which is North America’s first Jewish congregation, founded in 1654, predates the U.S., by 23 Jewish refugees of Spanish and Portuguese descent) the Shul, located just steps away from the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade route on Central Park West and 70th Street, hosted the Masbia Food Pantry pack-a-thon.
The day started off with a large Minyan for Shacharis, attended by dozens of locals and visitors for the event. Followed by a light breakfast the crowd made their way to an Olympic sized tent outside the synagogue for a mega pack-a-thon.
Chasidic Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein from Boro Park and Assemblyman-elect Aron Wieder from Monsey were spotted among the hundreds of volunteers helping this important cause.
Arranged by Alexander Rapaport, Executive Director of Masbia. Thousands of kosher boxes of food were prepared for over 2,000 families in need, delivered via DoorDash across Brooklyn and Queens.
