Richie Taylor, Highest-Ranking Frum Officer To Be Promoted To Deputy Chief
Frum NYPD Inspector Richie (Yechiel) Taylor, who is the highest-ranking Frum officer in the NYPD will be promoted to deputy chief on Friday.
Frum NYPD Inspector Richie (Yechiel) Taylor, who is the highest-ranking Frum officer in the NYPD will be promoted to deputy chief on Friday in an official ceremony which will be attended by family, friends, community leaders and fellow members of the NYPD.
Richie, grew up in Brooklyn, has a long history in New York City’s emergency response. Prior to being a police officer, he was a member of Flatbush Hatzalah and responded on 9/11 at the World Trade Center.
At the age of 15, he started as a Police Explorer in the 61st Precinct. He was sworn in as a police officer in 2005 and was promoted a number of times, in 2010 he was then promoted to sergeant, lieutenant in 2014, captain in 2016, deputy inspector in 2020 and most recently, inspector in 2021. Also, since November 2020, he has served as the commanding officer of the NYPD’s Community Affairs Unit at 1 Police Plaza, a subunit of the Police Commissioner’s Office and previously as the commanding officer of the Manhattan South Investigations Unit.

Richie currently lives in Brooklyn with his wife Miri and their 5 children.
