Yidden from the frum communities of Flatbush, Boro Park, Teaneck and Union City reported to FrumNews.com that they had felt the quake.
Tremors were felt as far away as Boston and Philadelphia.
The last significant earthquake was in 2011, which hit Virginia at 5.8 magnitude, with its aftershocks at a level of 4.2, was felt in New York, a week prior to Hurricane Irene.

UPDATE 11:25 am: Following the earthquake, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued a ground stop for JFK and Newark airports.
Update 12:30 pm: NJ Transit rail service system-wide is subject to up to 20-minute delays in both directions due to bridge inspections following the earthquake.
The Holland Tunnel to New Jersey is being temporarily held for inspection, expect delays.
Multiple Hatzolah calls came in from people who fell on the street from the earthquake.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul, NYC Mayor Eric Adams and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said they are monitoring the situation, and activated emergency operations centers.
