On Monday morning, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the northern Gaza Strip today, together with IDF Deputy Chief-of-Staff Maj.-Gen. Amir Baram, Chief of Staff, Tzachi Braverman, and Military Secretary, Maj.-Gen. Avi Gil.

The PM was briefed by the Commander of the 261st Brigade, Col. Yehuda Wach, about their activity in the northern Gaza Strip, informed about the tunnel shafts that had been found in the heart of a civilian area and was briefed on the routes of the tunnels.

The Prime Minister spoke with the soldiers. “I am here with you in the northern Gaza Strip and I am extraordinarily impressed. Previously, I told your commanders, and you, as reservists, as soldiers – we are proud of you and rely on you. We see the determination and the desire to continue on until the end.” The PM said.

“Then I have two things to tell you: firstly we will do everything to protect your safety, your lives. We want to complete this mission but we want to protect you as much as possible.” He added, “Secondly, we are not stopping. Anyone who talks about stopping — no. We are not stopping. This war will continue until the end. Until we finish them. No less than that.”

“I know that you have left your families and that the families are supportive, that is something mighty, that is power, that is the key to victory,” the prime minister stated.

When a soldier interjected and said, “We left two of our friends here.” the PM replied, “I know. Not a few, and dear friends. For this we are continuing. The testament is to continue.”

Col. Yehuda Wach added, “It is important that you came and it is important that they know that we will go wherever you tell us – we will win. Not ‘close’, not ‘more or less’ – until the end. We will win.”

Following the PM’s visit to northern Gaza, Netanyahu addressed the weekly Likud meeting, during which he stated that the soldiers he met “all asked me only one thing: that we not stop and continue on until the end.”
