Police Impersonator Caught After Attempting to Pull Over Shmira Unit in Brooklyn

Borough Park, Brooklyn – A man impersonating a police officer was apprehended after he attempted to pull over a unit of the Shmira Shabbos Patrol while they were on duty. At the intersection of 47th Street & 18th Ave in Boro Park. The suspect was driving a passenger vehicle outfitted with illegal red and blue emergency lights, falsely presenting himself as law enforcement.

When the Shmira Patrol Unit recognized the suspicious nature of the stop, a call for assistance was broadcast over the radio. Responding Shmira patrol members swiftly arrived on the scene and detained the suspect.

According to evidence gathered by the NYPD’s 66th Precinct in Brooklyn, NY, the individual is alleged to have been conducting unauthorized traffic stops, posing as a detective, and robbing victims by seizing their valuables under false pretenses. Officials suspect that undocumented individuals in the area may have been targeted.

Despite the suspect’s attempt to conceal evidence, Shmira patrol members and the NYPD successfully recovered incriminating materials from the vehicle, leading to his arrest. Among the items discovered were 15 mobile phones, police-style emergency lights, a fraudulent police business card, and other evidence suggesting additional charges may follow.

The suspect and his vehicle were transported to the 66th Precinct station house, where an ongoing investigation is seeking additional victims.
