Speed Humps work, but if you drive to quickly over them it can cause the car to loose control and get into an accident. So while speed humps (or speed bumps, which makes the car nearly stop) are definitely good for side streets, not so sure if on a major roadway like Ocean Parkway that speed humps will be a wise idea, it may cause more hard than good by causing new accidents and crashes.

Every common sense person understands that “speed cameras” only stop some drivers, drivers that care. Obviously this driver didn’t care to get a ticket, also stolen vehicles or vehicles with counterfeit paper plates (tempt tags) are not afraid of cameras.
The real solution is Speed Humps, they slow down traffic on busy streets for ALL vehicles. But Speed Humps don’t bring in any revenue$$$ to NYC, so they rather the lesser affective method of speed cameras which clearly didn’t prevent this accident.

I don’t know any specific details about this accident, but in general it’s wise to always double check and look in both directions when crossing any busy street, even if the walking signal is on and it’s green for pedestrians
