NJ, NY Issues Weather Advisory Ahead of Potential Snowstorm

New York and New Jersey may see some snow early Tuesday as a coastal storm slides by the region

Monsey — New York and New Jersey may see some snow early Tuesday as a coastal storm slides by the region. However, it will likely shift to rain, the meteorologists said. New York City should expect one to two inches of precipitation.

Northwest New Jersey could get up to 3 inches of snow on Tuesday.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), New York City typically records 4.8 inches of snowfall in December, while New Jersey typically records 5.4 inches of snow.

“This will be the first snowfall of the season, which is expected to occur during the Tuesday morning rush hour commute,” the National Weather Service said on Monday. “Impacts may be more significant than usual, even if observed snowfall amounts end up closer to the 1-2 inch range.”

“Any snowfall and ice will pose hazardous travel conditions, especially across the interior Northeast U.S. and the central and southern Appalachians,” the NWS added.
