The NYPD hate crime unit is investigating after a man was caught on camera attempting to torch a Lower East Side Hatzalah vehicle on Motzei Shabbos in Manhattan.
The arsonist deliberately set fire to and damaged a Hatzalah vehicle on Motzei Shabbos as it was parked at 557 Grand Street on the Lower East Side, near the Williamsburg Bridge. The suspect then fled on foot.
The individual is described by the NYPD as a male with light skin and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, gray shorts, and white sneakers.
“Just a vile attack on a public service vehicle meant to save lives.” Rabbi Yechiel Kalish, CEO of Chevra Hatzalah, said. “We are grateful to the NYPD, Police Commissioner Edward A. Caban and, of course, the Community Affairs Bureau, who have been in touch with us about the state of the investigation from the start. I have no doubt. This guy will be caught.
The NYPD said the Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the attack and released a video of the attempted arson:

Hopefully once apprehended, unless this guy gets federally prosecuted, he won’t spend a day locked up.
Manhattan DA Brag will release him so quickly

More than a hate crime, he’s trying to destroy a life saving ambulance car
