London: Jewish Man Viciously Attacked in Hendon

On Friday afternoon, as the large Frum community in Hendon, a northern suburb of London, prepared to welcome Shabbos, a young Jewish man was viciously attacked on Brent Street by a mob of teenagers from a local school and struck with a bottle on the head.

One member of the public told the Campaign Against Antisemitism that one of the teenagers was heard shouting an anti-Semitic expletive.

Reportedly, Police are not treating the attack as a hate crime.

“These incidents cannot be described as isolated. The atmosphere on our streets, campuses and even at schools is becoming increasingly dangerous and incendiary,” the Campaign Against Antisemitism said on Twitter. “We have warned for months of where this is leading. The next Government must act and demand decisive action from police, universities, schools, and those who are failing to keep Jewish citizens safe.”

The London Jewish Forum said it, “Is aware of reports of an allegedly antisemitic incident in Hendon earlier today. Promoting community safety and cohesion remains one of our priorities, and we are in close contact with the relevant authorities and agencies.”

Last month, an armed woman was arrested in Stamford Hill after berating Yidden in the Frum community.

Anti-Semitic hate crimes rose in the past year against London’s Jewish community, from 562 incidents in 2022 to 1,729 in 2023 – a surge of 208 percent.
