Lakewood Firehouse Shifts From Volunteer To 24/7 Career Fire Company

Lakewood, NJ – After years of dedicated service as a volunteer fire company, Lakewood’s Engine Company No.1 has been reorganized as a full-time career fire company.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony marks a significant milestone forming an additional full-time paid fire company, which will complement Lakewood’s already existing two full-time paid fire companies and phenomenal volunteer fire companies.
In addition to this momentous change, four firefighters were recognized for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant and swearing-in six newly hired firefighters who will join the ranks in serving and protecting the town. This continued expansion is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of the Lakewood community.
Lakewood Fire Department Chief Yahr spoke about the accomplishments of Engine Company no.1. Assemblyman Avi Schnall, Ocean County Commissioner Frank Sadeghi, Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller and Lakewood Committee Member Meir Lichtenstein were in attendance among other elected officials, community activists and local residents.
The ceremony included the rededication of the fire company and the formal swearing-in of our new firefighters and officers, followed by a reception where residents had the opportunity to meet and congratulate our the firefighters and promoted officers and tour the newly renovated firehouse.
