OU Kosher issued a Kashrus alert after a batch of Acme Wild Caught Herring in Cream Sauce mistakenly bore an OU Parve label instead of an OU-D label.
The ingredient panel includes dairy ingredients, Including sour cream, milk and nonfat dry milk, and there is an allergy warning for milk.
Brooklyn-based Acme Smoked Fish Corporation (not to be confused with the Acme supermarket chain) is the largest producer of smoked salmon (better known as lox) in the United States.
The OU said that corrective actions are being implemented. Shuls should be aware of this issue for their Shabbos Kiddushim.
