Eilat’s naval port in Israel’s far south came under attack by a drone from Iraq on Monday. The drone struck a building in the base, causing slight damage.
The IDF confirmed that the building was a hangar, and said no injuries were reported.
The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, a coalition of Iran-backed terror groups, claimed responsibility for what it had sent the drone.
The terror group has claimed to have launched numerous drones at Eretz Yisroel during the war in the Gaza Strip, of which the attacks have failed to cross into Eretz Yisroel or were downed by Israeli defenses.
IDF Spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said in a press conference, “Tonight, an unmanned aircraft made and directed by Iran hit the naval base in Eilat. This is a very serious incident. Minimal damage was caused to infrastructure, and there were no casualties. We are investigating the incident to learn, draw lessons, and enhance our defense capabilities in the Eilat area and its surroundings.”
