A leading commercial construction company in Connecticut is looking for a Director of Construction Operations to lead all projects, oversee a team of project managers, and drive efficiency across the organization.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced in ground-up construction, historic renovations, and mixed-use developments.
  • strategic thinker who can oversee vendor negotiations, contract execution, and process optimization.
  • Strong people leader, capable of motivating teams and managing project managers, supers, and subcontractors.
  • Comfortable working directly with owners and stakeholders, handling large-scale budgets, and ensuring projects run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all active projects, ensuring budgets, schedules, and execution stay on track.
  • Lead and mentor a team of project managers, site supers, and assistant supers.
  • Handle contract negotiations, vendor management, and change orders.
    • Drive process improvements and implement project management best practices.
  • Maintain compliance, safety, and quality standards across all job sites.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring alignment on budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Optimize staffing and resource allocation to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction leadership experience, overseeing large-scale developments ($20M+ per project).
  • Expertise in ground-up, mixed-use, historic rehabs, and commercial fit-outs.
  • Strong budgeting, financial planning, and contract negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple direct reports and large project teams.
  • Deep understanding of zoning, permitting, and compliance.

Must-Haves

  • Executive-level construction management experience.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects while keeping teams organized and efficient.
