Chavivim, Hatzalah & Chesed of Tampa Prepare for Florida Hurricane

Tampa, FL – As the state of Florida is preparing for one of the largest Hurricanes to ever hit the region. The large Chasidish community of Khal Ahavas Hashem in the newly built Wimauma neighborhood, a suburb of Tampa, Florida, are not taking any chances.

While many parts of Tampa Bay are under a mandatory evacuation zone. The newly built and established Frum Kehilla, with hundreds of residents and Jewish families are located south/east of Tampa, significantly more in-land, and are not considered to be “in the danger zone.”

Although, the community leaders and local Askunim are not taking any chances, whatsoever! they have directed the community Chesed organizations to prepare for all scenarios.

Tampa ChavivimChesed of Tampa and Hatzalah of Tampa together have established a joint command center, to handle emergencies that may arise during Hurricane Milton which is expected to make landfall tonight, Wednesday night, as a Category 5 Hurricane, with winds at 150 mph and storm water flooding estimated at around 15 feet near the bay and along the beach.

Chavivim from all neighborhoods and divisions in New York, New Jersey and Montreal are assisting as well. Together they have sent tens of thousands of dollars worth of supplies, including large generators, water-pumps, gas canisters, chain-saws and tree removal machinery, even a boat, among many other heavy equipment to assist with the hurricane preparations and aftermath recovery. Multiple vehicles from the NY-NJ tri-state area with dozens of Chavivim volunteers have arrived last night and this morning to assist the Tampa, Florida frum community.
