Brooklyn: Kalman Yeger Running for Assembly Unopposed in Flatbush and Midwood

NYC Councilman Kalman Yeager who won the nomination recently for the open seat in the 41st Assembly district, which covers Flatbush and Midwood in Brooklyn. He is running unopposed in the general election Tuesday. Yeger previously won the Democratic primary with 71% of the vote.

Kalman Yeger proudly represents the Boro Park and part of Flatbush community as a Councilman since 2017 after David Greenfield tapped him to replace him in the City Council. Yeger is term-limited through 2025.

Before getting elected to the New York City Council, Kalman Yeger was a member of Flatbush Community Board 14, for 18 years.

In March, Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein announced her resignation after serving in NY’s legislature for nearly 44 years and is the chair of the powerful Ways and Means committee. Assemblywoman Weinstein quickly announced her endorsement of Yeger, putting him as the frontrunner of the race during the primary.

Kalman Yeger would be NY’s sixth Frum assembly member, alongside Frum assemblyman Sam Berger of Kew Gardens Hills Queens, Ari Brown of the 5 Towns, Simcha Eichenstein of Boro Park and Flatbush and David Weprin, of Queens. As well as Monsey candidate Aron Wieder, if he wins Tuesday’s election.

Another Frum candidate Joey Cohen Saban, is running for NYS Assembly in South Brooklyn by Tuesday’s general election. If elected that would make it 7 frum Yidden of the Kehila in the New York State Assembly.

This would give New York’s Frum communities a bigger voice on important issues, including Yeshivas, Public Safety and Eretz Yisroel.
