American Dream Mall Reopens After Brief Evacuation Due to Bomb Threat

On Friday morning, the popular American Dream Mall – which is frequented by the Frum community and has a number of Frum businesses – was evacuated following a bomb threat. All guests, tenants, and employees were swiftly directed to exit the premises using the stairs, with the use of elevators strictly prohibited as a precautionary measure.

According to New Jersey State Police, someone reported a bomb inside the East Rutherford mall at about 7:13 a.m., prompting the evacuation. The New Jersey State Police Bomb Unit and K-9 unit performed sweeps for explosive devices, but none was found.

The threat came on Black Friday which is the busiest shopping day of the year.

Authorities acted promptly to ensure the safety of everyone on the premises, and after a thorough investigation, the bomb threat has been deemed a false alarm. The mall has been declared safe, and normal operations have resumed.

American Dream released a statement saying: “American Dream was evacuated this morning following what was later deemed a non-credible threat. This was done out of an abundance of caution, as the safety of our employees and guests is and will always be our priority. … We look forward to a joyous and safe holiday season.”
