New York City — Officials from the U.S., Israel, and Qatar assembled in New York City on Sunday for a trilateral—not so secret—meeting to rebuild ties, Axios reported.
During the summer, the Israeli air force struck a building in Doha housing Hamas members who were there at the time. (Netanyahu has since apologized to Qatar for the strike.)
This is the highest-level meeting between the countries since the deal for the release of the hostages and a ceasefire in the war against Hamas in Gaza. It’s taking place as the Trump administration is trying to move the Gaza peace process into the next phase.
Axios’s Barak Ravid reported, according to two sources familiar with the matter, that White House envoy Steve Witkoff hosted the meeting with Mossad spy chief David Barnea on the Israeli side and unnamed officials on the Qatari side.
