Earlier this evening at approximately 7:00 PM, Queens Shmira received a hotline call from a concerned mother of two in Kew Gardens Hills, reporting an unknown individual attempting to violently force entry into her home.
Queens Shmira members arrived on scene within minutes and found the suspect, a homeless individual who appeared to be emotionally disturbed, still at the door. Police was immediately contacted, and Shmira members safely held the perpetrator on scene until officers from the NYPD 107th Precinct arrived and took him into custody.
Throughout the horrifying incident, a Shmira dispatcher remained on the phone with the caller, providing reassurance and support until the scene was secure.
Queens Shmira urges all community members to ensure their doors and windows are securely locked at all times. “Your safety is our priority.”
