QueensNYCRabbanim, Askunim and Jewish activists in Kew Gardens Hills (KGH) have joined together in a show of appreciation, Hakaras Hatov and Community-wide support for the esteemed Assemblyman Sam Berger on his Re-Election campaign.

  • In a statement that the Queens Jewish Community Leaders released to FrumNews.com

“This November’s election stands to be the most divisive in American history and while national lines may be drawn in the sand, the Queens Jewish community must distinguish between local and national politics. In the last year, Queens has had a fierce advocate in Albany with Sam (Shmuie) Berger as their Assemblymember. Sam has shown time and time again that he is the strong, moderate and frum voice we need, who relentlessly fights for our yeshivas and the right to teach our values.

In a post-October 7th world, antisemitism has skyrocketed across our City. Despite being in office for less than a month Assemblymember Berger fought for our community, coordinating with three separate police precincts to ensure our children were safe and our synagogues were protected. Sam did not hesitate to stand his ground and fight for the Jewish people by calling out blatant lies, advocating for accountability on college campuses, countering extremist policies by the DSA, and pushing for legislation to prevent those who would turn protests into violence. We deserve an Assemblyman who brought over half a million dollars in funding to our local NYPD precincts and to QBSP Queens Shmira because public safety is a necessity, not just a talking point.

Now more than ever, we need unafraid common-sense candidates like Sam Berger who fights for normalcy in the legislature, prioritizes our local community organizations, and delivers. In his first year alone, Sam has secured funding for Queens Hatzalah, Chazaq, Tomchei Shabbos, Kehilat Food Pantry, Met Council, Chai Lifeline, and QBSP Shmira among others. In a widely progressive Assembly, Sam showed his tenacity for common sense policies when he passed Gittel’s Law, garnering 80 Democrat and Republican cosponsors in five days, for legislation to make it a crime for licensed mental health counselors to abuse patients during treatment.

Sam Berger has shown his heart is for this community no matter the political tide. We don’t just need Sam Berger, we need more politicians like him. We strongly support Assemblymember Berger for his re-election.”
