Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance & Accounting Lead to oversee and drive our finance and accounting initiatives. This role is perfect for an experienced professional who is ready to take full ownership of the finance and accounting functions within our growing payroll company. This position requires hands-on leadership, a strong understanding of payroll tax compliance across multiple states, and a passion for process improvement and profitability analysis. This role is also a potential pathway to becoming our future CFO as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Finance & Accounting Management: Take full ownership of all finance and accounting operations, including payroll, tax compliance, banking relationships, and financial reporting.
- Payroll & Tax Compliance: Oversee payroll tax filing across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Profitability Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings, improved profitability, and streamlined operations.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis, and present findings to senior management.
- Process Improvement: Implement and refine processes to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations, from billing to tax filing.
- Leadership & Team Development: Manage and mentor a small finance team, fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Banking & Vendor Relationships: Maintain and strengthen relationships with banks, payroll processors, and other financial service providers.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, accounting, and payroll tax compliance, with significant experience managing multi-state payroll tax filings.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software and payroll systems; strong Excel skills for financial modeling and analysis.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop a small team, with a hands-on approach and a strong sense of ownership.
- Personality: Go-getter with a positive, can-do attitude; dedicated, responsible, and willing to take full ownership of company financial processes.
