Miami, FL — The federal judge presiding over Donald Trump’s classified documents case in Florida dismissed the prosecution because of concerns over the appointment of the prosecutor who brought the case.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon granted the defense motion to dismiss the case.

When filed, the case was seen as one of Trump’s toughest legal battles.

The indictment included dozens of felony counts accusing the former President of illegally hoarding classified records at Mar-a-Lago in Florida and obstructing FBI efforts to get them back.

Lawyers for Trump successfully argued that special counsel Jack Smith was illicitly appointed in violation of the Constitution’s Appointments Clause and that his office was improperly funded by the Justice Department.

Smith’s team had strongly contested the argument during hearings before the judge last month.

Trump reacted to the findings on Truth Social, “As we move forward in Uniting our Nation after the horrific events on Saturday, this dismissal of the Lawless Indictment in Florida should be just the first step, followed quickly by the dismissal of ALL the Witch Hunts
