Biden’s $320 Million Gaza Pier Floats Away To Ashdod

Just two weeks after opening, President Biden’s $320 million pier—that the U.S. Democrats insisted on building to import “humanitarian aid” into Gaza—has broken apart, bringing a halt to “humanitarian aid” by sea.

During the State of the Union, which FrumNews.com reported at the time, President Biden announced that a port would be built with Israel’s approval and cooperation, and Israel would inspect any goods delivered through it. He also promised, “No US boots will be on the ground.”

Under the pier’s design, aid is supposed to be delivered onto a massive platform off the coast of Gaza and then moved down a long causeway to the beach, where it is supposed to be picked up by NGOs for distribution within Gaza. 

Well, two weeks after coming into service, after a large storm, the $320 million pier broke apart from its home in Gaza, after a storm broke away the causeway sinking part of the pier and drifting parts of the dock all the way into the beach of Ashdod, Israel, and four U.S. navy boats that had been used to ferry supplies drifted and got stuck on the beach—two North on the Israeli side, and two in Gaza.

“The vessels broke free from their moorings and two vessels are now anchored on the beach near the pier. The third and fourth vessels are beached on the coast of Israel. Efforts to recover the vessels are under way with assistance from the Israeli Navy.” U.S. Central Command said. “The IDF is supporting the recovery efforts near the pier. No U.S. personnel will enter Gaza. No injuries have been reported and the pier remains fully functional. We will release additional details as they become available.”

In addition, three U.S. service members suffered noncombat injuries (one critically) in repairing and attempting to stabilize the pier. They were transported by the IDF to hospitals in Israel.

David Friedman, former U.S. Ambassador to Israel, said about the pier disaster, “I don’t relish being right. I had hoped it would bring some relief to Gaza. But as I said on Day 1, this pier was a massive waste of money that had no value other than virtue signaling to Biden’s base.”

What happens next?

Over the next two days, the remaining parts of the pier will be pulled from the beach and sent to the southern Israeli city of Ashdod, where U.S. Central Command will repair it. The process will take “at least over a week,” a Pentagon spokesperson said. 

But not as if aid was actually getting to “innocent civilians” during the brief period when it was fully operational. According to reliable Israeli “boots on the ground,” most of the aid made it to Hamas and other terror groups within Gaza.
